WELCOME TO DLI PRACTICUM

DLI Practicum is a new Denver Leadership Initiative venture

designed to give individuals the space and structure

to guide themselves in becoming Healthy Leaders.

We take you through a year long journey that motivates participants

to grow by developing practices in thier lives and ministry.

What is DLI Practicum?

Objective – we as leaders in the body of Christ in Denver will keep growing in our

personal lives and as leaders, and to keep growing in our relationship with Christ.

More specifically, as the name suggests, the goal is to put into practice, rhythms that will

help us to be healthy leaders - and to practice these with the support of others making the

same commitment.

We have a “North Arrow” for DLI that helps us to keep moving with the Lord and not

drifting from the mission that He has given us. Here is how we define ourselves:

We are a community of leaders.

Christ followers, who are traveling together.

On our journey, we seek continuous healthy growth.

… and on this journey we teach, learn, and practice principles that support health in all

aspects of our lives. The key word here is “practice”. We do not want to stop short of

actually practicing the things we teach about.

In the DLI Cohort program we teach the core value of “Leverage”.

In short, it is discovering small actions that produce big results.

The DLI Practicum is just that – a commitment to some small actions

that will produce big results in our lives.

Key Points to know about the Practicum:

Primarily Self Directed

Although some helpful guidelines are provided, much of the specifics we will be putting into practice are both defined by us personally and carried out by us personally. It will be an exercise of seeking the Lord, hearing from the Lord, and then acting on what we hear.

Limited Gatherings

During the Practicum year we will only gather in the fall at the Botanical Gardens and then again in the spring at Mother Cabrini Shrine. Although we will be together, these times are focused on prayer, silence, and solitude with the Lord.

Supportive Community

We, together with other ministry leaders in our city will be offering a supportive accountability through reporting to each other. The 5-minute monthly reporting will express some thoughts on how we are growing, progressing, or even struggling with the rhythms we are practicing. It will not be an accountability community that is offering advice but rather one that is offering encouragement to keep going, keep working and ultimately growing and maturing.

What can be expected?

During the Practicum year we will:

Practice (annually) seeking the Lord for guidance and direction

Practice the Power of Accountability

Practice follow through – let our yes be yes

Practice solitude with the Lord

Practice giving and receiving feedback

Practice fun

Speaking of fun....

Fun Challenge January 2025

Pastor Phil out for a day of fun. He loves to relax by going fishing. He's got a big one - well actually a big stick.

THAT WAS FUN!!

Think of the last time you used this phrase.

What were you doing when you said that?

What were the elements that made it fun?

Are we supposed to have fun as followers of Christ?

Ecclesiastes 3:4

a time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

None of these - weeping, laughing, mourning, dancing – should dominate us or be our highest aim in life. However, there is a time for each, including a time for laughing, dancing and other forms of FUN and enjoyment. Ministry leaders generally need to do better at this. As well, they have the opportunity to be the very ones to model to the world that followers of Jesus have fun. Your challenge for this part of the practicum is to select something that is fun for YOU – something that you think about but have had trouble getting off the ground.
